Yay! Welcome to 2023
A new year has inspired us to reflect on what we want to do this year to better ourselves, the people around us & our community. You may have seen the 'Ins & Outs' going around on social media, so we decided to create some of our own. New Years resolutions can have such a pressure that we have to completely change ourselves in order to be 'better' but often just leave us burnt out within the first few months. This means we don't actually end up achieving our 'resolutions' throughout the entire year. That's why we love the idea of more bite-sized, manageable changes you can implement in your daily life to create positive change over time (without burning out).
Our 'Ins' are all centred around self-care and a more natural approach to beauty (no surprise there!). This year we are prioritising our own time to do things that fill our cup - whether that be a walk with friends, a self-care night or reading a book in the sun uninterrupted. Whatever it is, we want to have those times regularly without feeling guilty or that it's a 'waste of time'. Afterall, you can't pour from an empty cup, so we're taking it easy on ourselves and doing gentle activities to create a more relaxed and balanced lifestyle. This includes looking after our skin with regular facials, double cleansing and of course SPF (always in)!
We don't support cancel culture, but these are some of the things that we are trying to remove from our lives. Sticking to the natural beauty theme, we want to prioritise the health of our skin, brows, lashes, nails etc with a more gentle approach. No more over-exfoliating and 'cakey' pore-clogging makeup.
We are also normalising saying 'no' if you don't want to do something - no dramatic excuse needed. It's time to take a break from the grind and get back to a work-life balance that includes dedicated down time. As much as we do love a good trend, we also want to consciously be aware of these and not fall into all of them - whether it be social media, fashion, beauty, fitness and anything else that might become trending this year. Take everything with a grain of salt and create a unique personal brand identity that speaks to you- not the trends. And of course (as always) we will continue to support local as much as we can!
That's the run-down on our mindset coming in to 2023 - what's yours?
